ASSALAAM STUDENTS' COUNCIL

ASSALAAM STUDENT COUNCIL ELECTIONS For the first time in the history of Assalam High School, the students on the 25th January 2019, took part in an election exercise to choose the New Student Council Leadership. The hotly contested seat for the Student Council President which attracted three candidates was won by Sahad Mohamed. The presidential runners up was appointed Deputy President.  A total of 9 cabinet secretaries and 3 class governors were also elected. The teaching and support staffs were trained to work as clerks and presiding officers. The School Deputy Principal Hassan Kibiti noted that the exercise was as a result of students complaining that the exercise had in the past been unfair. “Initially a majority of the students felt that the teachers were imposing student leaders on them and that is why this year we felt that we should leave students to pick their leaders in an independent, free and fair exercise,” said Mr. Kibiti.
